A Torrington man is facing charges for driving the wrong way and crashing into another vehicle on Route 8, state police say.
It happened just before 4 p.m. Sunday.
Police say Darwin Perez-Toalongo was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes near Exit 51. In an attempt to avoid Perez-Toalongo's vehicle, a Kia Optima LX that was traveling north in the center lane swerved to the left lane.
Perez-Toalongo's Chevrolet Trax 1lt then collided with the Kia and sideswiped the vehicle.
No one was injured.
Police say Perez-Toalongo failed a sobriety test at the scene.
He was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, reckless driving and driving on the wrong side of a divided highway.
Perez-Toalongo is expected to appear in Torrington Superior Court on Oct. 23.
