A local father is speaking out for the first time after his twin 7-year-old sons were struck by a hit-and-run driver on Oct. 20 while walking to school.

Wesley Moore witnessed his sons, Castor and Pollux, get hit and thrown into the air at the intersection of Cross Street and Wilton Avenue just steps ahead of him.

The driver, identified by police as 68-year-old Joseph Campbell, of Norwalk, allegedly fled the scene in a black Mini Cooper but later turned himself in to authorities.

While Pollux has already returned to school, Castor is recovering from a broken leg, leaving their father deeply grateful to a quick-thinking ER worker who stopped to help at the scene.

The dad has started a GoFundMe to help with travel and other expenses associated with his sons' recovery.
