Police say a woman was fatally stabbed multiple times inside a park in Crown Heights overnight.
According to police, they responded to a call for a stabbing inside Lincoln Terrace Park just after 12:40 a.m.
When they arrived, they found a 30-year-old woman stabbed multiple times throughout her body.
EMS transported the woman to Brookdale in critical condition where she was later pronounced deceased.
Sources close to the investigation tell News 12, the attack happened after the victim was arguing with a man.
It's still unclear what connection the victim and the attacker had.
The man was last seen running down Rochester Avenue wearing only gray pants.
Crime Scene Unit investigators were seen placing evidence markers near a wig and part of a grill, as a section of the park remained blocked off for hours. Sources tell News 12 they believe the woman was found on a park bench.
Neighbors coming across the active crime scene were caught off guard, "This is kind of strange to me the first time I really seen somebody like this."
While others reflected on the growing violence in the neighborhood. On Sunday, a 33-year-old woman of five was killed after bullets rang out near Bergen Street and Howard Avenue.
"It’s unsafe, it’s unsafe. We need more protection, more cops, more cameras, more everything," said a parkgoer, Gregory Fleurimond.
There are no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
