Access Health CT held an enrollment fair at the Sterling Community Center in Stratford on Wednesday to encourage residents to re-enroll.

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-New Haven) and health care representatives say they wanted to get the word out ahead of this Saturday's special enrollment period deadline.

The deadline was pushed from Jan. 15 to Jan. 31 after the expiration of Affordable Care Act subsidies.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has been vocal in the opposition of a tax credit extension.

DeLauro says republican-led health care has made it impossible for residents to keep up with costs.

"Doing what we can to ensure that thousands of Connecticut residents and families are not left without any options to preserve their access to quality health insurance,” said DeLauro.

“Together, the democrats in Connecticut and in the Congress are working to address this republican health care crisis, and to find solutions for working families."

Gov. Ned Lamont has pledged money from the state to fill federal funding gaps.

You can find more information on how to apply for the special enrollment on the Access Health CT website.
