The state House speaker said Wednesday that they might hold a statewide vote to let the public decide whether to legalize marijuana.
State lawmakers were poised to legalize marijuana this year. But the idea stalled because lawmakers couldn't agree on how to regulate it.
"Let the voters vote in on that, and then we'll come back and do the regulations afterwards," said state Rep. Joe Aresimowicz.
The earliest a vote could happen is November 2020, the same day as the presidential election. But the vote might not happen until 2022.
