Runners brave rain for Fairfield Police Sunset 5K
Hundreds of people braved the rain Wednesday for the first-ever Fairfield Police Sunset 5K.
Runners and walkers had two hours to finish the race at Penfield Beach. The idea was to give them a sunset as the backdrop, but the day's gloomy weather prevented that.
The race raises money for scholarships through the police union, along with benefiting a senior center.
The town's police chief says he was impressed by the number of people who turned out despite the rain.
The event wrapped up with a dinner for the hungry runners.
