A Milford teen is set to be sentenced today for the murder of his classmate in a stairwell at their high school.
Christopher Plaskon pleaded no contest to stabbing 16-year-old Maren Sanchez to death at Jonathan Law High School on the day of junior prom in April 2014.
Prosecutors say Plaskon committed the act because Sanchez turned down his prom invitation.
A previously announced plea deal would have Plaskon serve 25 years in prison, though he could be released within 13 years due to Connecticut's parole laws.
However, the judge isn't bound by the plea deal and could hand down his own sentence.
