The annual Norwalk Mayor’s Ball was held Friday at Serafresca at the Italian Center in Stamford, with proceeds benefiting mental health and LGBTQIA+ programs.

It was the first ball hosted by Mayor Barbara Smyth, who was sworn in earlier this year.

The black‑tie gala supports the Triangle Community Center and the Mid‑Fairfield Community Care Center. The Triangle Community Center is a Norwalk‑based nonprofit that provides programs, health and wellness services, learning opportunities and resources for LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies. Mid-Fairfield Community Care Center, also based in Norwalk, supports the mental health and well-being of children, adolescents, young adults, and families.

“Our kids are really hurting…and we want to make sure we can do everything we can to support them in terms of mental health services and in terms of LGBTQ+ support,” Smyth said. “The demand is huge. It’s growing every day.

The Mayor’s Ball has been held for more than 30 years.
