Holiday shoppers in Norwalk have a new place to find unique gifts this holiday season.
Real estate firm AGW offered up some of its Washington Street storefronts to artists and craftspeople to bring handmade holiday gifts to Norwalk shoppers.
Nearly 70 artists from Western Connecticut and around the country are offering items ranging from paintings and prints to handmade jewelry and even shoes. Organizers say in the midst of a global pandemic, working artists have a harder time getting their pieces out into the public.
"Especially this time of year they're going into the winter season when there's not any events," says Sue Brown, director of Sono Holiday Market. "So this is really important for the artists. So come down buy a piece of art for your home or for a gift, but you're also supporting an artist. And that's the best gift you can give."
The Sono holiday market will run until Dec. 24.
