A coyote bit a 13-year-old girl and her father in Watertown Monday, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
They say the attack to place on Cherry Avenue in their front yard.
Officials say the injuries were not severe and that the family brought the girl for medical treatment.
They say the coyote ran off after the attack and was gone when officers got to the scene.
Watertown Animal Control says it has been receiving reports about coyotes in residential areas.
Animal control says coyotes might be more territorial, because "this time of year is when coyotes may have pups or adolescents."
Animal control advises that you to stay calm and walk away slowly if approached by a coyote, but don't turn your back.
