The free and confidential hotline connects Connecticut-based health care providers, helpers and patients seeking care with legal information about their right to access and provide abortion care.
Over the next few weeks as part of the campaign, information on the hotline will be printed on billboards and posted online.
Officials say that since the hotline expanded from Massachusetts to Connecticut in 2024, it has become a critical resource for residents who are looking for clarity and guidance.
"By pairing up to date accurate legal information with trusted pro-bono legal referrals, the hotline gives people more than answers. It gives them confidence. It helps providers navigate complex and constantly changing legal landscape. It helps patients understand and exercise their rights. And it protects people from being misled," says Liz Gustafson, Connecticut state director of
Reproductive Equity Now Foundation.
Gustafson says since its inception, the hotline has helped over 250 callers and has recruited over 250 pro-bono attorneys.
