Thunderstorms didn't stop the community in Stamford from holding a “Back the Blue” rally at the old police headquarters Sunday.
Hundreds of people who support their local policemen and women came out on the heels of the controversial police accountability bill.
Organizer Anthony Lupinacci says he didn't want Sunday's rally to focus on politics.
"We want everybody together, support your police, and let's have peace in this country," he says.
However, protesters still questioned why Stamford Mayor David Martin didn't come to the event. The mayor cordially declined his invitation because he's out of town on vacation.
A few Black Lives Matter protesters also gathered near the rally.
