A barbershop and two other businesses in Valley Stream were damaged in a two-alarm fire last night.
The Valley Stream Fire Department said the fire started at 539 West Merrick Rd., just after 9 p.m.
Crews battled heavy smoke and flames.
Two neighboring businesses, including a shoe repair shop, sustained smoke damage, according to the Nassau County Police Department. Officials said both were closed and vacant when the fire started.
No one was injured, fire officials said, but significant damage was done to the local businesses.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office is investigating this morning, though they have initially deemed the fire non-suspicious.
