The Bridgeport Barnum Museum celebrated receiving a National Historic Landmark Designation from the National Park Service.

The community celebration took place on the M&T Bank Plaza in Downtown Bridgeport Thursday.

Local and state officials highlighted the importance of the milestone in the Museum's 130-year-old history.

The Barnum Museum is temporarily closed for construction and renovation.
