Republican incumbent Chris Shays and Democratic challenger Diane Farrell spent Monday making their final push for votes in the 4th Congressional District race. Former Westport First Selectwoman Farrell has been running an aggressive campaign since losing to Shays by 4 percent two years ago. Now, the two are locked in a virtual tie in a race that could help determine the balance of power in Congress. Farrell has criticized Shays relentlessly for his support of President Bush and the Iraq war. Shays, however, says he has always been candid about his views.
