Flu season is coming, and experts say precautions that are being taken with COVID-19 could help prevent flu outbreaks.
Bethel Visiting Nursing Association has partnered with Western Connecticut State University nursing students to offer flu shots.
Nurses there say there has been a higher turnout at the flu clinic this year than previous years.
Medical professions say it's only September but getting a flu shot is the best thing to do to prevent getting the flu.
Nursing students who are giving shots at the Redding Community Center said they have noticed that people are more aware of proper hygiene now.
People are washing their hands more, cleaning surfaces around them, keeping distant from others and wearing a mask.
All of that, combined with the flu shot, can help lower the rates of the flu this year.
The nursing students say this year, they are seeing more younger people getting flu shots than in the past.
The Bethel Visiting Nursing Association also plans to have a community flu shot clinic this Saturday.
