The Stratford Police Department has added bicycles to patrol the streets in an effort to help reduce crime.
Mayor Jim Miron says it is a known fact that the presence of police officers deters those planning on committing a crime. He says having police present on bicycles in high crime areas, such as the Hearthstone Apartments on Gregory Circle, will help to decrease crime in the community. He also says this will help to create a positive relationship between the residents and the police.
Residents disagree with the mayor, claiming the cops harass more then protect. They say they police themselves more then the cops.
