More than 500 runners took part in Sunday?s Bigelow Tea Challenge to raise funds for local charities.The fundraiser netted $40,000 which, in part, helps fund a Fairfield homeless shelter called Operation Hope. The money helps people like Lucy Clayton, one of 30 residents living at the shelter. Clayton calls it her ?bridge over troubled water.? The shelter offers her three meals a day and counseling services.The challenge is in its 19th year and in addition to the shelter, raises money for seniors and after school programs.
