A push to strengthen Connecticut's laws on sex offenders got a big boost Monday from famed forensic expert Dr. Henry Lee. House Speaker Jim Amann (D-Milford) and Dr. Lee testified in support of a bill that would strengthen Megan's Law by giving communities the authority to publicly post the personal information of high-risk sex offenders. The bill would create an assessment board to decide how much risk a given sex offender poses to the public. That information would then be included on the state's online sex offender registry, which includes names, addresses and pictures of about 4,000 convicted sex offenders. The bill would also require sex offenders to register before they leave prison.
