The bone chilling cold is showing no quarter in the state of Connecticut this week.
"I am not a fan of the cold. I think it was one degree when I left my house," said Debbie Oppel, of Shelton.
"I think its freezing and I think the wind is definitely not helping," said Mitchell Weinbaum, of Stratford.
People on Paradise Green in Stratford Tuesday were feeling the frigid temperatures.
"I surely wore the wrong coat today but I'm going to probably stop at home and change. I didn't think it was going to be this cold out," said Weinbaum.
Not many people were outside if they didn't have to be – only braving the cold to get a breakfast sandwich and a hot cup of coffee.
"No one enjoys this at all," said Stratford Fire Captain Stephen O'Hara.
Stratford firefighters have be out in this weather for any call. They have to be safe, and they want the public to be safe too.
"A good rule of thumb is try not to use your stove or oven to heat your house. If you have to use a space heater, keep it away from anything flammable," said O'Hara.
There are warming centers available in Stratford until Friday.
People News 12 spoke to were trying to think warm thoughts.
"I do palm trees – not pine trees. That's my personal quotes…This is a little cold but I live in Connecticut so that's what you take," said Oppel.
