A Black Rock personal trainer and retired U.S. Marine is holding a workout fundraiser to benefit veterans who have post-traumatic stress disorder.
Uncommonly Driven owner Chuck Roche, a Fairfield native and U.S. Marine, will host the Workout for Warriors Saturday at 3402 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport.
The workout consists of a 1-mile run, 22 pushups, 22 squat jumps, 22 burpees and then a another 1-mile run.
Alongside Roche will be longtime friend and U.S. Army veteran TJ Bepko.
Both men say with Veterans Day approaching, they want to raise money and awareness for a statistic that often gets overlooked.
Roche says on average, 22 veterans commit suicide across the United States every day.
"Being veterans, we know what those soldiers have gone through and are going through. And we want to give back, and here we are," Bepko says.
Money raised from the workout will benefit Mission 22, a nonprofit that helps veterans dealing with PTSD.
