Mayor Bloomberg (R-NY) presented an impressive list of goals he would like to see accomplished during his State of the City address Thursday. The mayor called for the creation of 250,000 new private sector jobs. Many of them will be provided by new development projects like the Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn, a new Yankee Stadium and Terminal Market in the Bronx, and a new cruise ship terminal in Brooklyn. Bloomberg also talked about reforming the childcare system in the wake of Nixzmary Brown's death. He wants to replace the emergency intake system so children can be protected from abuse. Another goal Bloomberg included in his address was to work with other states and cities to take illegal guns off Bronx streets. He also wants to increase penalties for possession and make all gun offenders sign a register. Related article:
