Sen. Richard Blumenthal is calling for federal action to combat predatory AI practices on sports betting apps.

Blumenthal says artificial intelligence identifies app users with gambling issues and pushes them to continue betting.

"Sports betting companies like Fan-Dual & Draft-Kings are targeting people who are losing money. That's the reason that Massachusetts regulators are investigating,” he explained.

He argues that the problem is getting worse and needs a ban to help protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.

The senator has a history of criticizing sports betting apps for ethical and legal controversies.

He was a co-sponsor of the GAME Act, a bill seeking to restrict how the industry markets to minors.

He also advocated for the SAFE Bet Act, which aimed to stop all wagers once a game starts and ban prop bets on college matches.
