Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D) says he'll be pushing this week to extend the federally funded school lunch program, which is about to expire.
"Kids deserve these meals. They've been a lifesaver for many young people who have access to nutritional meals through the schools and the expiration of the program, which is set for the end of this month, will deprive them of the kind of nutrition they need. That's why I will be fighting this week to extend that meal program, " says Sen. Blumenthal.
Many families came to rely on two free meals a day during the pandemic.
