A local airman from Bridgeport, who died in a fire while trying to rescue others, was honored Thursday by his former high school. Senior Airman Guillermo Nazario died Tuesday morning in a fire at his home outside Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. His father says Nazario was able to get everyone out of the house. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old was unable to escape. Nazario graduated from Bridgeport's Central High in 2001 and then joined the Air Force. He only recently returned from a tour in the Middle East. Bridgeport Central High School held a moment of silence in honor of the former student. Nazario's wake is scheduled for Monday in Bridgeport and he will be buried at Mountain Grove Cemetery on Tuesday with military honors.
