The bitter cold is taking a toll on our homeless population across the state.

Bridgeport City Council member Jorge Cruz tells News 12 Connecticut that the city has a resolution to establish a mandate requiring the city to provide immediate shelter for homeless individuals.

Cruz says there aren’t enough shelters in the city.

He says a man in Stamford froze to death last week in the cold.
