Two council members from Bridgeport were arrested on Tuesday at the JFK Campus polling location.
Around 4:21 p.m., police were alerted to a person causing a disturbance. Council Member Samia Suliman was arrested and charged with breach of peace.
Shortly after, police responded to another incident at the JFK campus. Around 5:05 p.m. they were alerted to a woman they say assaulted a 70-year-old woman on the polling ground of JFK Campus.
Upon arrival, officers arrested Council Member Maria Pereira. She has been charged with assault in the third degree.
Pereira was on the ballot for the 138th Council seat.
Details surrounding both incidents were not immediately available.
