People who attend the Bridgeport's Islanders hockey game against the Hartford Wolf Park on Saturday will not only have an opportunity to watch a great game, but help save lives.
Proceeds will benefit the Jimmy Fund and Capalbo Strong.
Capalbo Strong was started by Anthony and Jennifer Capalbo, of Fairfield, whose son Charlie fought cancer multiple times before his death in April 2022.
The foundation directly donated money to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute where Charlie was treated.
People between 18-35 will also be encouraged to register with National Marrow Donor Program and be swabbed for a match.
"It's quick and easy, as easy as five minutes. You fill out a couple of questions on your phone and you swab your cheek and you're done. You're in their database I think until you're 61. So at some point if you are genetic match to someone you'll get a call, go through some additional screenings and in many cases if you do end up donating it's pretty much like a blood donation," says Anthony Capalbo.
The game starts at 7 p.m.
