Charles Tucker, 51, drove 10 hours from North Carolina to arrange funeral services for his daughter and granddaughter, who were both killed in a single-vehicle crash in Florida one week ago. "I've been avoiding social media and television because it's just too painful. These were my babies -- the loves of my life," Tucker said Monday, in his first public comments since the tragedy occurred. Anyia Tucker, 21, and her daughter, Na'Leia Tucker, who was just about to turn 2 years old, were among the nine people killed in Belle Glade when the overloaded SUV they were traveling in careened off the road and flipped over into a canal, police said. A tenth occupant survived. The family members -- who were all from or had ties to Bridgeport -- were on a birthday weekend when the tragedy took place. "I am heartbroken and still in disbelief," Tucker said. State Sen. Herron Gaston, who's helping the families of all of the victims, met with Tucker Monday, and said plans for potentially one big memorial service have yet to be finalized.
