One of Bridgeport's top new attractions provided the backdrop for Mayor Joe Ganim as he delivered the first State of the City address since the pandemic began.
Ganim addressed more than 300 people at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater, a venue chosen to highlight what he calls "the robust economic development" achieved under his leadership.
Ganim sat down exclusively with News 12 Connecticut before the address. He pointed to housing, infrastructure and educational improvements, saying Bridgeport has become "a music mecca in the region."
News 12's Frank Recchia asked Ganim about the racial tension between the public and the police department.
"I don't know about 'a great deal,' but I know nationally, this is a challenge for cities and police departments across the country," he responded. He also said there is a nationwide search for the "best and the brightest" new police chief.
