Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim looking for funding to help the homeless
Bridgeport's new "Task Force on Homelessness" is trying to help people one case at a time.
Mayor Joe Ganim met Elizabel Perez, 36, on Saturday along with her two children. Perez says the family has been staying with friends but have no permanent place to call home.
Ganim says he's looking for new state and federal funding to help homeless families.
Perez says by the end of the month, she and her children will be out on the street.
Ganim says the city is working to improve its relationship with local, state and federal housing agencies as part of an effort to get as many people as possible off the streets.
