A Bridgeport nonprofit distributed over 100 sleeping bags to the city's unhoused population on Friday.
The nonprofit Recovery Network of Programs, helps those suffering from homelessness, substance abuse and more.
Staff said the sleeping bags were given as a temporary solution until they can connect people with permanent housing.
The nonprofit's case managers said staff go out on the streets every day to help people find housing.
"This was something we did prior to the holidays," Brian Morris, the project director said. "We wanted to make sure before it got too cold that we were preparing people for the upcoming weather. And hopefully, we can make this an annual tradition where we can provide sleeping bags to the community."
The nonprofit also runs Prospect House, an emergency shelter for adults.
