The City of Bridgeport gave News 12 Connecticut an exclusive look Monday at new crime statistics due out Tuesday.

According to the Bridgeport Police Department, violent crime overall is down 37% over 2024, while fatal shootings are down from 12 in 2024 to 3 in 2025, representing a 66% overall decline.

"These numbers represent a record low -- and I'm very proud to share them with the public," Mayor Joe Ganim said. "We have been working very hard through community policing, boosting manpower and taking a record number of guns off the street.”

The city is also reporting a 46% decrease in robberies and a 35% decrease in rape cases.

"This is all good news, but we are definitely not resting on our laurels. Our goal is to double down on crime and give the people of Bridgeport an even safer city next year," Ganim said.
