“He’s truly going to be missed.’ Bridgeport father fatally shot is city’s 3rd homicide of 2022
Police say a man was fatally shot Friday night in Bridgeport.
Officers say they found Fredrick Shelby on Stratford Avenue just before midnight.
Police say it's not yet clear what led to the shooting. Witnesses near the scene say Shelby had just left a nearby bar and was followed by a man who then shot him from behind as he was leaving.
Friends and family of the 43-year-old say the beloved dad was working two jobs and had a reputation for being devoted to his family.
“He’s truly going to be missed. He was a father, he was a son,” said Scott Bish, a lifelong friend of Shelby.
Bish says the news has sent shockwaves through the community.
Police are asking for the public’s help tracking down the gunman who witnesses say fired two shots before fleeing the scene.
