A Bridgeport woman celebrated her 101st birthday Friday.
Daphne Reid's family spared no effort as she brings Women's History Month to life with a moving mix of humor and insight that never fails to leave people smiling.
"I never go to parties. I never drink rum. I drank it one time — I have to tell you that," she said.
Her family points out that her mind is as bright as her smile and signature red-colored dress.
"I am the happiest old woman in the world," Reid said.
The great, great, great grandmother shares her wit, wisdom and unique insight into how things have changed over the past 101 years when it comes to race, gender, social equity and how to best prepare kids for life in America in 2022.
Reid says every one of her four children had successful careers in public service.
