7ds agoBridgeport's first recreational marijuana dispensary opened this week.
"The customers are wonderful people and super loyal. They came in, and they were happy and excited to be here and patient with everyone. So, it was a really good first day," says Amy Panish, store manager of Affinity Dispensary.
Affinity Dispensary is located on Commerce Drive.
As News 12 has reported, it took more than a year of meetings with various city officials to open the store.
This is Affinity's second location, the first being in New Haven.
Upon entertaining the dispensary, IDs are checked. Customers can purchase both medical and recreational marijuana. Items can be pre-ordered online, but all products must be purchased on site.
Once an order is placed and ready, IDs are checked again.
In order to prevent issues, the store has one entrance and one exit.
Panish says the dispensary is excited to bring safe cannabis and job opportunities to Bridgeport.
"I think just in general, the cannabis industry is opening up and it's a whole new world in Connecticut, and we're super proud to be a part of it, and we're super proud to do it in this city," says Panish.
Affinity is open 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday.
