Rain may have dampened the roads, but not the spirits of the 250 participants in Sunday's Bronx Biathlon.
The 24th annual event consisted of 5.6 miles of running and 20 miles worth of biking. Biking took place on the Hutchinson River Parkway, which is closed once a year for the event.
Athletes say the event filled them with pride.
"It's a great feeling of accomplishment and the endorphins are pumping through you," said participant William Kelley.
The first place contestant finished the trek in a little over an hour.
