The GHI Bronx Tennis Classic got underway Saturday at Crotona Park, with Bronx kids benefiting from the expertise of hundreds of pros.
Organizers say the week-long event gives children the opportunity to improve their game, get exposure and have fun. Some young volunteers also get to clear the balls from the court. Activities are also planned, including a parade Thursday. Parents say the lessons their children learn at the professional tennis event are invaluable.
All events are free, except for the finals on August 20.
