A Brooklyn man was sentenced Wednesday for planning to murder an Iranian journalist during a speaking engagement at Fairfield University in 2024.

Carlisle Rivera will serve 15 years in federal prison for attempting to murder Masih Alinejad.

Prosecutors say Rivera and two others went to the university ahead of the event and took photos of the campus.

The speaking event was later canceled after the FBI told Alinejad not to attend.
