Fairfield kicked off its Shop and Stroll campaign Thursday.

The event has become an annual tradition in town for the past eight years.

Several stores are extending their hours and offering sales today to celebrate the beginning of the holiday shopping season

"Even though it's going to be different, we still want to support our local businesses. And we made sure with the Health Department that all our businesses are operating in a safe way for our community. Come out and support our local businesses and get ready for the holidays," First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick says.

In addition to the discounts today, there will be some entertainment tonight, and a raffle through Sunday.
