BusPatrol celebrates the opening of its new headquarters
This office in Bridgeport will be BusPatrol’s first building in the northeast.
BusPatrol held a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of its headquarters in Bridgeport.
Justin Meyers, president and chief innovation officer of BusPatrol, was joined by Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim, Police Chief Roderick Porter and several council members.
They spoke of the importance of this system as their main goal is to protect children as they get on and off school buses.
BusPatrol is a child safety system that activates every time the school bus stop sign goes up.
The bus is equipped with multiple cameras all around that records cars that pass illegally.
Last year was the first full school year since they implemented the program and they recorded over 20,000 violations in Bridgeport alone.
In collaboration with law enforcement, BusPatrol sends an evidence package to police where they review and then issue the violation to the car owner.
Meyers says that 92% of the time, nationwide, that a driver received a violation through BusPatrol they did not repeat the offense.
Bridgeport police have already seen this decrease in cars illegally passing buses, thanks to the program.
