Bronx and city students may have to abide by some new rules when they head back to school in September.
Some students and parents have complained some of the rules in the Department of Education?s discipline code aren?t clear. Now, education officials have proposed some changes to help students, parents and school officials better understand them. Some of the proposed changes will affect the electronic devices ban and notifying the state of kids who have excessive absences.
The proposed changes are based on feedback the Department of Education received from students, teachers and safety personnel. Education officials will hold a public hearing on the proposed changes August 9 at Tweed Courthouse in Manhattan.
