A car carrier fire on I-95 south in Norwalk tied up traffic for several hours this morning.
Norwalk firefighters say the fire appears to have started in the brakes of the trailer shortly before 6 am.
They say the driver of the carrier unsuccessfully attempted to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher before the fire spread to four of the six vehicles it was carrying.
Officials say the fire was knocked down and that specialized towing equipment was requested to remove the cars and trailer from the highway.
