The Catholic Academy of Stamford held a groundbreaking for its new expansion Friday.
All students took part in the ceremony held at the school on Newfield Avenue.
School officials say the school recently received the necessary permits from the city's building department to begin construction on the project which will help them better serve students and enhance their educational experience.
The expansion will allow the school to build four new classrooms, which include a science lab, an art room, a Spanish classroom, along with other facilities.
The school serves students from kindergarten through 8th grade.
