The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says some people are having trouble getting the new COVID-19 vaccines.

The organization acknowledged some of the difficulty is resulting from this being the first year federal government not distributing the shots, but instead pharmacies and doctors handling them.

"We've heard that people in some areas have had problems getting the updated vaccine, either because their pharmacy doesn't have it yet or because of a billing issue with their insurance company," said CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen. "It's important to know that there is vaccine available. You will be able to get one and it should be free for you, whether or not you have insurance."

The CDC recommends everyone ages 6 months and older gets the latest vaccine.
