A 6-year-old child was found unharmed after a vehicle was stolen during a fight on Bank Street in New London late Saturday night. Police say the car was taken from Bank Street around 10:53 p.m. as multiple people were involved in a disturbance.

Police say they used public safety camera technology to track the vehicle, which was located a short time later on Jay Street. The child was still inside and was not injured.

The investigation led officers to Norwich, where they arrested 38-year-old Sean Quintero, according to police. He is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, risk of injury to a child, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

New London Police Chief Brian M. Wright called it “a rapidly evolving and extremely serious incident,” praising the coordinated response that helped recover the child safely and take a suspect into custody.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact New London police at 860-447-5269, ext. 0, or submit anonymous tips by texting NLPDTip and the information to 847411.
