The Children's Learning Centers of Fairfield County held a backpack stuffing event Tuesday at their office in Stamford.
Volunteers from OdysseyRe helped pack a wide variety of school supplies into brand-new bags.
CLC began backpack stuffing after the pandemic to support families in need across Connecticut.
Organizers say the event is meant to ease the financial burden on parents, allowing students to start fresh.
“The first day can really set the tone for the year,” said Jennifer Hallissey, director of Strategic Partnerships. “So, knowing that they have a backpack full of supplies they need is going to help them feel confident when they sit down in that classroom to get started for the day.”
The backpacks will be given to more than 400 students heading to kindergarten this fall.
