As Circuit City attempts to stave off bankruptcy by closing 20 percent of its stores, employees at its East Gun Hill Road store are now facing unemployment.
The store?s workers say they were handed termination letters at what was supposed to be a holiday-planning meeting. The Circuit City at 1750 East Gun Hill Road just opened in August and is now one of the 155 stores closing nationwide.
Employees say the store is planning to liquidate its assets and will sell everything from plasma televisions to DVD players.
The electronics-store chain issued a statement in which it apologized about the closures: ?We deeply regret the impact this announcement will have on our associates, our guests and the communities where these stores are located.?
