Cleanup begins at Stamford animal hospital destroyed by fire
Cleanup has started Monday at a Stamford animal hospital destroyed by fire.Firefighters were called to the Davis Animal Hospital on Main Street just before 5 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, employees and neighbors had already rescued most of the 30 animals that were inside. A nearby animal hospital took in most of the pets and is still caring for about 10 of them. The others were picked up by their owners.
The cause of the fire, which destroyed the second floor, remains under investigation. Hospital officials say depending on the structural damage, the animal hospital could possibly be up and running on the first floor by the end of the week. Anyone with questions is asked to contact the Darien Animal Hospital at (203) 655-1449.
