As the temperatures continue to hover around 90 degrees, Con Ed is offering tips for Bronx residents to stay cool indoors without breaking the bank.
Con Ed says the first thing residents should consider is using a programmable thermostat, which the company offers customers for free. In addition, Con Ed says always turn air conditioners off when you are not home, clean filters on air conditioners, don't use unnecessary lights and keep shades and blinds closed.
The company also says residents should consider using fans instead of air conditioners when possible. Lastly, try to run large appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines at night.
